SAY NO TO GMO'S

8 To The Bar is proud to say that we are a non GMO company.  You will never find any genetically modified ingredients in any of our products.  We simply don't believe in them.  Here is a great article from the Non GMO Project.  Enjoy!!!

What Exactly is a GMO?

A GMO, or genetically modified organism, is an ingredient that has undergone the process of artificial genetic manipulation in a laboratory. This process crossbreeds an organism with the genes of a different organism, creating unstable ingredients that do not (and should not) exist in nature. This process is done so that these crossbred organisms can contain desirable traits and characteristics that they did not previously have in the natural state. For example, corn crops can be genetically modified to resist herbicides, produce their own pesticides, grow quicker, and be more aesthetically appealing for consumers.

The Dangers of GMO's

Aside from Genetic Modification being the unnatural alteration of an organism, the process poses many risks to our food supply and to our bodies. The introduction of GMO's into our food system have increased the prevalence of toxic herbicides as well as created "super weeds" and "super bugs" which require even more toxic poisons to kill them off. What makes GMO's so potentially dangerous, is the fact that their long-term impact (on both our bodies and the environment) is still unknown. According to the American Academy of Environmental Medicine, foods that have been genetically modified pose health risks "in the areas of toxicology, allergy and immune function, reproductive health, and metabolic, physiologic, and genetic health" (AAEM.org).

How to Avoid GMO's

According to The Non-GMO Project, over 80% of our food contains GMO's. With such a whopping number like that, it may seem difficult to avoid these dangers in our food. That's where The Non-GMO Project Comes in! With their stamp of approval, it is easy to find products that are verified to be in compliance with their strict guidelines, such as Paleo Passion Pops. Consumers are urged to look for their stamp (pictured above), to ensure product safety and the usage of low-risk ingredients. It is also recommended that consumers avoid the most commonly genetically modified ingredients: corn, soybeans, canola, cottonseed, sugar, Hawaiian papaya, and yellow/green zucchini. You won't find any of those ingredients in Paleo Passion Pops!

Paleo Passion Foods cares about the ingredients that it uses to make Paleo Pops so tastey. That is why we made it a priority to gain our Non-GMO Project Verification. Next time you are in the store reading labels, look out for Paleo Passion Pops with the Non-GMO stamp of approval! Visit our store locator to find your nearest Paleo Pops.
